Where have we been?

Well, I know that there has been a space of time between posts here, but we are not lost to the world, only much better! We have been exploring the world. Now my plan is to bring you up to speed by posting the highlights of our summer month by month! So, bear with me as I attempt to capsule all the fun we have had!

Dear Sam and Melissa.

It is important first of all not to give anything to reduce fever. Contrary to popular opinion fever is the body's ways of cooking the bad guy if you know what I mean. You want to encourage fever. If your child is small get in a warm bath with them (an older child can just have you sit there with them) add 1 cup of sea salt and 1 cup of baking soda to the bath. If you have eucalyptus oil...put several drops of that in too. Gradually warm it up til your child is sweating. Sweating helps purge the virus. Make sure your child is taking plenty of vit C. You know you've had plenty when it gives you the runs. There are many preparations for children that contain echinacea out there. I prefer tea. Tea also heats up the body and helps the child "sweat it out". Take as many of the sweat baths as your child will tolerate (two a day at least). Make sure the child gets PLENTY of fluid. NO sport drinks. Anything with sugar taxes the immune system. Tea is the best. Add honey if they child doesn't like it plain. Enchinacea is the best in times like these...also chamomile for a calming effect. I find onion poultices are very effective. You slice up some fresh onion and lay them on the child's chest and cover for as long as they will tolerate it. A warm air humidifier is great. Just make sure you don't let mold or mildew build up on it as this will irritate the lungs further. Inadequate calcium intake is often an underlying cause of complications from illnesses in children. A great calcium preparation for children is A.Vogel's Urticalcin (https://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.uk/details.php/p127_a_vogel_urticalcin.html). Restrict the diet to only whole foods while ill. Keep away from pork as well as any processed foods. Organic oatmeal is best. Okay, one of the biggies is magnesium. Magnesium smoothes out the lung tissue. The best magnesium preparation I have tried and used and love is http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=51 . Another thing is palpating the back. Do this just as if you are chopping the back in a sort of massage type way. It helps break up any phlem and makes it easier to cough out. It is equally important to remain calm and keep your child's atmosphere stress free.
I hope this helps you.

As a disclaimer I have to say that I am not a doctor. I have no degrees. I have studied naturapathy for many years and have five children of my own. To protect my own caboose I have to tell you that it would be irresponsible not to see a doctor.

Blessings to you and your children.

Wow! That lady had a long post. Very helpful, isn't she? Well, I have come to save you from your lack of blogging doldrums!! I've "tagged" you in a little photo tag thing.

So...go to my blog and read how to do it and then I want to see a new picture here very soon! Not that I mind looking at Mr. bunny every time I come and check, but you know...a little change in never a bad thing! :) Love you!
